Welcome,
Your life and my life are quite similar in almost every respect, just different names and your country and my country of origin
joined the site, not that i have much to share.. i'm married to a jw (wife).
i never have been or will be a jw, i honestly hate the wt (not the jws).
being married to a jw, can sometimes make you crazy, i never believed any of the bs.
Welcome,
Your life and my life are quite similar in almost every respect, just different names and your country and my country of origin
for the past three years, my husband and i have been watching these sermons by remarkable worldwide speakers.
the biblical truths we have learnt from their presentations, in such a short period of time most definitely tip the scales compared to the truth the jw.org led me to believe i had for over 20 plus years of my life.
thanks to these videos, we have now found the truth and the truth is jesus christ (john 14:6).
"For God/Truth seekers only"
I understand the desire for economy of words, but it can get confusing. I guess you meant "For God seekers or Truth seekers only". This seems to be the more logical statement, which is quite inclusive, therefore there's no need to add "only"
it's to their credit that many modern christians prefer the jesus of the gospels to the god of the old testament.. ot god is an embarrassment.
i am not going to list his multitude of moral crimes here but my personal favourite is his brilliant idea that a girl who is raped must marry her rapist.
it's not his biggest crime but it demonstrates a disregard for human feelings that is beyond the comprehension of every moral person.
Caleb,
I am not a JW, so I am not part of the people you criticize, I hope.
I think you fit more the mold of a JW because you are acting as they do, like sensitive persons who easily take offense and are intolerant of criticism or disagreement. Your running away pretty much confirms that you fit the JW mold. They always run away. I know this first hand and I experienced it multiple times with multiple JW's.
Regarding the OT God, I find it quite despicable, but only if I use XXI century moral values. However, I find the study of the Bible quite enjoyable when put in the Near East historical and religious context during which it developed. In the end it all seems a mixture of mythology, fantasy, fairy tales, or rather nightmarish tales, mixed with history and philosophical thought spanning over a thousand years. Very interesting stuff and quite useful to understand how we got to where we are today.
i was curious to know what stew was brewing in the faithful and discrete slaves apostate kitchen.
where better to find out than the watchtower scullery.
i opened the watchtower, may 2015 pot, and was immediately hit with the stench of deception and false-doctrine which almost completely knocked me out.
Simplify: The entire Bible can not be trusted. It contains too many contradictions, unsupported doctrines and narratives, even bad practical advice. Why bother to defend or attack Bible interpretation using an unreliable book?

(sorry for any typos, i'm on my ipad) so, remember how in my last post i mentioned that i had told some of my dear friends why i decided to leave?
well, one of those friends was a girl... not just any girl, but rather, a girl that i've loved since the moment i've met her.
she used to say that she considered me her best friend and we were really close she just never really returned my feelings for her due to different circumstances i presume.. but i always felt a connection.. anyways, after telling her that i decided to leave because of multiple reasons but that the tolerance of child sex abuse was the final straw, she responded asking where i got my information and that she wanted to talk about it with me.. this feels like an opportunity for me to tell her about my findings, what do you think?
sickening to see the photo of the religious zealots all stood around the governor signing into law the right for people to discriminate against others (gay, lesbian, trans-gender) based purely on religious dogma.. if religious people want those freedoms then the can't have it both ways - they cannot complain if *they* are discriminated against.. "sorry, we don't like zionists, get out".
"oh, it's some special mass and you can't work your shift?
you're fired!"..

Basically, to leave the world a better place is why you do it.
Agree, we all want a better place where discrimination is based solely on merit. You just don't fight dogma with more dogma. Let the idiots ridicule themselves into oblivion. That's a better way to deal with religious zealots.
Don't feed their sense of persecution and therefore a divine purpose.sickening to see the photo of the religious zealots all stood around the governor signing into law the right for people to discriminate against others (gay, lesbian, trans-gender) based purely on religious dogma.. if religious people want those freedoms then the can't have it both ways - they cannot complain if *they* are discriminated against.. DJS,
It seems that we agree. As a matter of principle I am OK with the right to discriminate for whatever reason, except for state funded institutions. However, I can easily compromise on applying non-discrimination laws to business, but I am not ready to do away with the first amendment as it applies to legitimate not-for-profit religions.

Within a generation or so this will be a moot point. Gay marriage and equal access will be the norm, and people in the future will look back at the haters in 2015 and compare them to the KKK and other 20th Century hate mongers. And that's not an opinion.
Agree. However, religions, under the first amendment, should have the right to their own religious ceremonies. In the mean time the state can provide non-religious ceremonies for anyone that looks humans and breathes. Christians have a very good point for refusing same sex marriage, they believe the Bible is the word of God, and the Bible condemns homosexuality. It's their own stupid belief and they should have the right to exercise it.
My point remains: why would a homosexual couple wants to be married by a group of people who condemns them to hell or whatever the latest belief is. I feel they, the supporters of forcing religions to marry homosexual couples, want to be jerks too.
You should be more riled up about the right given to JW parents to refuse life saving transfusion for their children. That's way more important. Children die as a result of this religious belief, which is also protected by the first amendment.

JD,
Sorry, I must have dyslexia. It should have been DJS
